Circle of the Ringless

Filed under: Doodles, Blabs and Rants — Tags: — didee @ 7:39 pm

They say that when the cat is away, the mouse will play.

What keeps the mouse preoccupied, during those select times when the cat is nowhere to be seen, is something I will leave to your imagination.

But cats and mouse don’t think like grown-ups do. And I do hope that people who are in a committed relationship won’t think like animals , and make “instinct” a byword for the ultimate excuse ever invented for philandering.

In a place far away from home, it’s nice to meet new people, they invite you in their circle , and you find yourself “clicking” with them.

And sometimes, all you can do is shake your head, when the rings starts disappearing from fingers and then safely tucked inside wallets, pockets and bags. When the double becomes single, and the free hand finds another to hold.

Some subtly hide it, while others blatantly talk about their conquests and updates on the latest addition to the list.

It’s crazy. It’s driving me crazy thinking how the other person, wearing the other pair of the ring, would feel when he/she founds out what really happened on that fateful Friday night, or Saturday or Sunday…

Makes me think… when did they start crossing the line? When did a simple eye contact turned into flirting? to touching? to ultimately procreating?

You play by the sidelines, thinking it will never get to you, you will never cross that line. But unknowingly, you were inching closer and closer to that invisible line you promised yourself not to ever, not in a million years, step on. Later, it will only take one flick of a finger, and in you go.

Buhbye invisible line.

Some say, “so what? I am a good provider.” Got that half right, a provider maybe, but not a good one. Cause one also needs to provide faithfulness. And the last time I checked, that’s a good ground for a successful relationship.

I don’t judge people, who am I to pass on what I think. But I empathize with how it felt to be on the other side. I don’t care whether it’s emotional betrayal or physical betrayal. They’re twins in my sight.

Temptations are a fact of life. But so is free will. And so is intellect. And so is respect. Oh yes, R-E-S-P-E-C-T, spell it, learn it, earn it.

When the cat is away the mouse will play…not knowing that the cat got tired of chasing the mouse and eventually left for good.
