Dismantled

Funny how it is that every time we are to choose who would take much hurt given a situation, we would often choose our self.

“Ako na lang yung masaktan, wag lang siya. wag lang sila.”. Let me take the blame. Let me take the pain. Its ok, I can handle it.

Why is it always like that? Why can’t pain be shared by those involved? Why are we so generous with others but not on our self? Why do w often put our self last? Why is our own happiness place second to that of theirs?

Perhaps it is true that we are selfish by nature. Too selfish to allow something like pain to come to those dear to us. We place our self as a protective shield, using our own heart and emotions, to filter whatever pain is coming. We know that they’ll also hurt like we do, but we do our damnest so it wont be the same amount of pain.

Pain is an affirmation of life, as one author would describe it. So let me continue hurting, let me continue living, let me continue loving.

  3. at last an update… =).

I guess we all have a mother instinct inside of us. We protect those who are dear to us even if it will hurt us in the process, hoping that something good or better will come out from our sacrifices. =)

  4. I agree. Humans are selfish by nature (persuasive speech nako sa Comm III) and more often than not, people sacrifice themselves because they do not want to lose something.
